Fan Shao Hua

Fan Shao Hua 范少华 Born 1963 in China. Shao Hua graduated with a BA from the Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou, China, before embarking on several visiting lectureships, including the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. He has actively participated in exhibitions in Hong Kong, Japan, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, garnering merit for his works including the Distinction Award for Chinese Ink Painting in the Tan Tsze Chor Art Award (1998), the Philip Morris ASEAN Art Awards, and UOB Painting of the Year award (2000). His photo-realist works testify to his meticulous description and sharp observation of human behaviour and body language. His urban paintings series offer episodes or vignettes of the city, not merely reproducing images with impressive photographic precision but capturing its ethos, mood and pace.
